I wanted a hamster so badly that I kept asking my Mom until she finally said yes.
When she finally said yes it was on Valentine's Day 2003. I was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very HAPPY!!! So then we went to Petco and went to the small animal section. I asked the employee what the best type of hamster would be. She said it was a short-hair hamster. So then I went to the cage where they kept the short-hair hamsters. Then I saw two big cute eyes staring up and me. It was the cutest little hamster I had ever seen. Then I held him for a while and decided that he was the perfect pet for me. So while I went and got a cage for him the lady put him in a little cardboard box so he would be safe on the way home. She also suggested that I buy "Training Treats" so he would get used to me. So I did. Then when all of the hamster stuff (and the hamster) were paid for we got in the car to go home. When we got home I set up his cage. Then I took him out of the box and gave him a treat. I watched as he slowly ate it by taking tiny little nibbles. It was extremely cute. Then I picked him up and he crawled on my hand. Then I thought to myself "I think I'll name you Charles." And to this day my little Charlie Bear still hasn't bitten me once. (Accept for that one time when I was Handling his food and he mistook my thumb for a piece of corn!)
