Lovey Dovey |
Recap of
Chapter 1: New pet baby hamsters, Miffy and Waffie, enter my life.
Cute, lovey dovey, and of the opposite sex!
|
A very pregnant Miffy. |
Is it my eyes playing tricks on me or is Miffy getting really fat? She was just slightly bigger than my thumb when she arrives home but now she puts on so much weight. She's even fatter than Braveheart whom
we called "Buei"! (meaning fat in an adoring way).
So I took this pic of Miffy to show that she's really eating too much. She's always snatching food from Waffie, right from his paws. Time for a diet.
|

Surprise! |
Stress. Assignments are due 2 days later, and I have managed to write zero out of 8000 words.
Ok, time to play with my hamsters.
Weird, how come Miffy and Waffie had stopped sleeping together? Miffy now sleeps at the upper deck of the cage while Waffie enjoys the tunnel.
|
|
Another waterbottle fight perhaps?
Nevertheless, I am determined to take Miffy out to play. But no matter what are
my efforts in coaxing her, she refused to came out from her upper deck home.
So I began to resort to more noticeable methods of rocking her upper deck,
shaking her abode etc ... and then I heard ... chirping noises! Yes!
Chirping noises? When Miffy came out briefly to investigate, I got the surprise of the day: Little red stuff wiggling on the sawdust, chirping loudly.
The babies have arrived! (Since when was Miffy pregnant?) Blur me.

"Hug and Sleep" |
Miffy was really a good mum.
First of all, she did not eat up a single baby although I had violently rocked her home with her children in it. Then she uses her teeth to gently carry the babies by the scruff of their neck one by one down the stairs to a bigger roaming space when they are 4 days old. She's really a beautiful sight feeding them milk and cleaning them up and taking care of them.I love Miffy.
|

I'll never let go ... |
This little one decided he/she hasn't gotten enough milk and clinged on to Miffy's nipples for dear life even when she's on the move. (Some babies even got drag downstairs)
Smart little Miffy eats some vegetables for nourishment.
|

Climbing the stairs |
This little one, at about 10 days old, was the first to learn to navigate the stairs though his eyes are not yet open. Bravo!
|

Some solitude on wheel |
The hamsters are growing up so quickly and yet still so dependent on their mother for milk and company. Smart little Miffy goes to the wheel (which the babies had not learn how to climb up yet) to seek some solace |

We're family! |
Around 14 days old, the babies are really active and likes to explore their surroundings. And they have learnt to use the water bottle. Cute.
|

Quite grown up |
Head count makes easy ... Miffy gives birth to 6 babies altogether!
|

So what's Waffie doing all along? |
So ... we have forgotten our other lead. What's Waffie doing all this time? Chilling out in his new tunnel!
Stay tune for Chapter 3 ... |
