What's in the box?

I saw this little box with the words "Pet Safari" on my table. My friend had left a gift. :D Hmm maybe it's a guinea pig! I would love to have a guinea pig!

It's not a guinea pig.

Open sesame! Not a guinea pig, it's two hamsters ... nooo I want a guinea pig! ... but wait, don't the dark brown one looks like a dead ringer for Braveheart?

Their lives almost ended prematurely cause my Mum thought that it was a cake box and almost put it in the fridge. Luckily my friend has the good sense of telling my mum that the box is living. My friend didn't have the good sense, unfortunately, to buy hamsters of the same sex. The argente coloured hamster is a male and Braveheart Jr is a female. Arrgh ... I am going to get a colony of hamsters soon.

Not quite tall enough ...

I realised how tiny they were. Firstly, they were smaller than my (not very big) thumb. Then I looked at my other hamster Braveheart and realised that Braveheart suddenly looks like a guinea pig (I am still obsessing about them).

The compelling factor that leads me to conclude that the hamsters are babies is that I need to place a food dish under the water bottle to let them reach the water bottle. There, I rest my case.

Ouch!

I am starting to worry that the friendship of the two hams will leads to premature procreating. I certainly can do without a litter of baby hamsters. The hammies are so loving ... they eat, sleep, play, walk and practically do everything together.

They are unlike those solitary hamsters you read about in books that fight savagely for space and food. Except when it comes to sharing a drink.

Aftermath

Braveheart-lookalike seems to be offended over the waterbottle fight.

Awww ...

Here's a picture of them sleeping together. Apple (left) is resting his head on Orange. Erm ... did I call them Apple and Orange? I thought I saw them give me a malicious glare and bare their fangs when I call them that.

Decided to call the male Waffie (Somehow, he looks like a waffle to me.) and the female Miffy. (So that their names rhythm). So now they have proper names.

This wheel is faulty!

One of the reasons why it's so difficult to live with together with another (hamster) is that you have to constantly consider the other's interests besides your own, such as not staying stationary on the wheel when the other hamster wants to have a run.

That's the way!

Practice makes perfect.

Olympics Hopefuls.

After being subjected to watching days of Olympics action with me on the televison, the hamsters have resolved to take part in the ball games events for next Olympics.
