Sexing Hamsters

Rascal ... A male hamster!
It is often not easy to tell the sexes of hamsters.
The difference between a male and a female is determined by the distance between
the sexual opening and the anus. In the picture above, you can see that the
sexual opening and the anus are a good distance apart. This signifies that I am
a male hamster. For the females, the distance is much smaller.
Another way to determine the sexes is to note that male hamsters have their
testicles clearly visible on either side of the anus. Females,
on the other hand, do not have testicles. Males also have a sharper rear end
than the females.
